This Months Zero Radio Presenter Spotlight is Elliot Mount
With 2 older brothers, one into Motown and Reggae and the other into The Who (but later discovering Earth, Wind & Fire) along with parents into Jazz, I was destined to love the music that makes up the wide spectrum of music that we nowadays call “The Soul Scene”.
At the ripe old age of thirteen I started attending events such as The Ilford Old Town Hall and Snoopy’s in Chadwell Heath. A few years later I spread my wings to Zero 6, The Goldmine, Flicks and many, many more including the legendary Caister Soul Weekender with my love of all things Soul, Jazz & Funk growing stronger all the time.
In 1986 I spent 6 months “working” in Gran Canaria and that was when I used my knowledge of the music to start DJing in bars and clubs, on returning to the UK I continued to play at various events until 1990 when I took a break to start a family.
All through the 90’s I continued to follow the scene mostly through radio stations with the occasional night out to events such as The Lacy Lady, then as the new millennium began I returned to the scene in earnest attending regular Soul events. I rekindled my DJing by warming up at regular Soulfunky events in the Bromley area and then closer to home in Essex at Soul Reunited at The Russ Club, Overdose of Joy, 5 Star Soul at The Orsett Hall and many more.
I have since been privileged to be a regular member of both the Caister and Lagoona Soul DJ Team and then in 2015 I was very excited to be asked to join the Zero Radio Team since then I have been playing my regular Wednesday night slot from 9-11pm.
During my show I like to bring the listener a variety of music across the whole spectrum of “Soul music” including both new and classic tracks. I love being part of the Zero Radio team because we all have the same goal to provide the listener with great music in an entertaining way whether on the radio or at one of our many events. Keep it Zero.
