Richie Talks To World-Renowned Singer, Guitarist And Composer Eban Brown
Eban’s musical journey began incredibly early and at just seven years old he began playing guitar and singing with several gospel groups in his local area. Motivated by a Father he idolised, strong family support and a firm belief in God, Eban had all the tools he needed to embark on a journey into the business we call music.
As Eban honed his craft, his interest in studying jazz guitar was influenced by such greats as Wes Montgomery, George Benson, David T. Walker, Larry Carlton, Grant Geissman, George Duke, and Bobby Caldwell. It was during this time that Eban Brown, realized another gift, that of songwriter.
Back 1991, Eban became the lead vocalist for his idol artist group RAY, GOODMAN & BROWN (also known as The MOMENTS). Eban initially signed on as the group’s guitarist but it didn’t take them long to realise that this guy needed a more predominant role on stage and was moved to the frontline to sing with his idol group. Interestingly, the founding members thought his physical characteristics were too young at the time to be included in promotional photos for marketing. Eban left the band to join the Grammy-Award winning group; The MANHATTANS which at the time included Gerald Alston and Blue Lovett.
Eban’s journey continued throughout the 90’s becoming the lead vocalist of the DELFONICS, and was the first lead vocalist of the DELFONICS to be inducted into the 98.7 KISS FM HALL OF FAME, in New York City, the NAACP HALL OF FAME, in Atlanta, GA and in 1996, received a NAACP award for his accomplishments as lead vocalist of The DELFONICS. The Delfonics, which featured Wilbert Hart, Major Harris.
In April 2000, Eban became the lead vocalist of the world renowned STYLISTICS, following Mr. Russell Thompkins Jr., the original lead vocalist. As it stands, Eban is the youngest Classic Soul recording artist in the History of Classic Soul Music.
Eban has released a string of solo projects turning more towards those early Jazz influences. His first all instrumental album titled “DETERMINISM” featured his sister Lisa on vocals. Then followed “SUMMERTIME IN TOKYO” , a tribute to his all-time hero, The Late George Duke. One of Eban’s many endeavours is to continue to record original music that people will enjoy listening to as well as write music for other artists’.
Eban is due to perform as part of the “Soul Train Tour UK” in May 2019 organised by the one and only David Gest Limited.
